It’s a 11:15pm and I sit here in bed asking myself what just happened. How did they find George Zimmerman not guilty? It just isn’t right. Then I remember … it’s Florida. It’s always Florida! Remember the ‘hanging chads’? And this is the same place that let a mother who killed her baby walk free. I’m not surprised at the verdict, but I am disappointed. My heart breaks for Trayvon, his family and all of the little Black boys in America. I’m not the only one who shared concern. Many Black celebs reacted to the verdict…
Yeah, I'm off twitter for awhile. I will probably tweet something that I'll regret later. You can kill an unarmed teenager & walk free? SMDH

Many sad parts here. An innocent young man killed for no good reason. A family mourning far too soon. A black community that’s used to it.

I feel sick. Prayin for the Martin family. Prayin God gives them peace b/c they will find none in this broken system. — jurnee smollett (@jurneesmollett) July 14, 2013
This is a shameful decision by the jury. Had Zimmerman not considered Trayvon a suspect, and followed him, Trayvon would be alive today. — rolandsmartin (@rolandsmartin) July 14, 2013
And I gotta go do a gig….I really wanna sing negro spirituals. I feel the blues all in my body. — lalah hathaway (@lalahhathaway) July 14, 2013
This is a heartbreaking, historical disappointment. I just KNEW things would change and we’d do better. My eyes are wide open now. Again. — Issa Rae (@IssaRae) July 14, 2013
Black Parents hold your kids at home because apparently killing black children is okay — marlon wayans (@MARLONLWAYANS) July 14, 2013
Understand, this confirms what we already knew. The lives of black men are worthless. Just. Worthless. — Reagan Gomez (@ReaganGomez) July 14, 2013
