Last Wednesday I had an eventful evening. Although I’m not too keen on going out on a school night, sometimes I have to do it because of the gig.  Someone said to me on social media that I’m always out and about.  I had to explain that it’s a social media illusion. Everyone’s life seems grander online. Doesn’t it? This is why you can’t get caught up on other people’s lives on social media. You will start to grow jealous of your friends and start to question your own life.  In reality, I’m a hermit.  I love to be at home. On my downtime, I’m either on my bike or in my apartment.

Last Wednesday, I was able to hit up two events. My first stop of the evening was to Gramercy Terrace to celebrate the unveiling of the Richard Chai for eBay Now Tote.

Beginning September 5 for a limited time, NYC shoppers who make a purchase using eBay Now — the fashionable way to get whatever you need and love delivered to you anywhere in about an hour — will receive their very own complimentary eBay Now Tote featuring an exclusive Richard Chai print from his upcoming Spring/Summer 2014 collection. But don’t fret if you’re not in New York during Fashion Week — the tote will come free with all eBay Now orders beginning in October.

Shoppers can access eBay Now at now.ebay.com or download the app for iPhone or Android. The service is currently available in San Francisco, the Bay Area Peninsula, San Jose, and New York City (Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens).

For those of  you attending Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, be on the looking for eBay Now. For show goers uptown to partygoers downtown, eBay Now makes Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week happen. Whether you’re in dire need of a fresh red lip or a charger for your dying cell, eBay Now is officially your new best friend.

The highlight of the night was meeting the Chief Marketing Officer of eBay North America, Richelle Parham. I love seeing black women in key positions in corporate America. We chatted for a little bit. She was nice and welcoming. Oh…and her purple dress was EVERYTHANG!!

Afterword, I had the pleasure of attending the Hennessy Privilege Awards honoring Carmelo Anthony at The Griffin. Now lets rewind for a second, the invitation had a dress code of cocktail attire and I had NOTHING to wear. So earlier that day I went out on my lunch break to Forever21 and picked up a cute little dress. I have gone to enough industry events to know that people really don’t understand the meaning of cocktail attire. In my Detroit days I would have gotten really dressed up, but people don’t get that dressed up here in NYC. So I figured if I wore a dress I wouldn’t be underdressed nor overdressed. And I was right. Folks were in there with jeans on. SMH.

Carmelo Anthony was honored for his philanthropic work and ongoing community service through his Carmelo Anthony Foundation. Saturday Night Live star Jay Pharoah, kicked off the festivities. Can I be honest? He was NOT funny at all. Folks started talking during his performance. Although I wasn’t amused, I thought it was really rude for others to carry on conversations while he was on stage. Spike Lee (2004 Hennessy Privilège Award recipient) took the stage to give Carmelo his award.

Many celebrities came out celebrate ‘Melo’s award including rapper Fabolous, actor Mack Wilds, and Wolf James.

I’m sorry for the phone pictures. I had my real camera, but sometimes I don’t feel like bringing it out because it’s so huge. I’m hoping the new iPhone will have a much better camera.
