I made it to Italy! Yay. I flew Emirates Etihad to get to Milan. Honey, that plane was the bomb! It reminded me of how flying used to be. Excellent customer service, really good food (they fed us twice!) and other cool amenities (TV, Movies, blankets, etc.). Just A+ service. How am I ever going to fly a low budget airline again?

The flight was about 8 hours. But it didn’t feel like it. I took the late night flight and dozed off a few times which made time go by faster.

While at the airport, my friend and I exchanged out money for Euros. My girlfriend just brought cash and had to use the exchange booth. Their exchange rate was bogus. I researched the rate before I left and it was around 94 cents to the Euro. They charged her $1.20. I could have exchanged my money there but I wasn’t trying to pay that high exchange rate so I just got money out the ATM. Which in the long run was better because my bank gave me the proper rate. So note to travelers: use the ATM to get money when traveling in another country.

Although we landed in Milan, our travel itinerary was to head to Florence and work our way back to Milan. So we took a bus from the airport to Milan Central Station to hop on a train to Florence. The next train was sold out. So we took the later train. Note: If you are traveling by train through Italy, get your train ticket a few days early. It will save you a grip.

Now it’s time to explore Florence!
