The 2nd day of our cruise we ported in Civitavecchia, Italy which is a 40 minute train ride to Rome. You opted to stay on the ship and have a pool day. I know, go all the way to Europe and not leave the ship. Yesterday’s tour was exhausting and the girls weren’t really into it, so we decided to keep our coins by staying on the ship. The ship was great because it had 3 water slides and 2 small kiddie pools. The girls had a ball. And we enjoyed relaxing poolside.

The next day we ported in Livorno, Italy which is an hour away from Pisa. We knew that we were going to take the girls to the Leaning Tower of Pisa because they have learned about it at school. They had two tours. A morning and an afternoon one. We opted for the morning tour and we were lucky because it started raining as soon as we boarded the tour bus to come back to the ship.

Pisa was quaint little Italian town. There were a few shops and restaurants and the Leaning Tower and church being the biggest attraction. We were on a tour and got separated from our group. Well actually we thought the tour was just the ride to the tower so we drifted off and did our own thing. Mind you, the tour guides were looking for us the whole time. They eventually found us in the end when we met them back at the trolley. They were really worried. We had no clue that there was an actual guided tour. One of the participants said we were better off venturing on our own anyway. Womp! I’m telling you, don’t pay for the cruise shore excursions. They aren’t worth it.
