Last weekend was too much fun. I was on the go the entire time. Saturday I was the photographer at my friend Genese’s of I Don’t Do Clubs two year blogiversary bash at Studio XX1 in Manhattan. It was an all day party full of friends, laughter and good music.

 Myself and Genese

Can we discuss my hair for a bit? I have been wearing a bun for about a week. I have to use the jaws of life to pull my hair back. The thickness of my hair makes it very difficult for me but somehow I managed. My hair is in desperate need of a cut so I’m not feeling the way it looks down. Dyeing my hair loosened the curl a bit and now it really doesn’t have any shape. I’m finally getting my hair cut tomorrow. Yay!

Sunday I had the pleasure of accompanying my friend to the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards. Man, it’s good to know people in high places. I have wanted to attend the VMAs ever since I heard it was going to be in Brooklyn. I tried to get tickets but I didn’t have any luck. Last week, my friend texted me and asked if I was free Sunday night. I jokingly responded “Why? Do you have tickets to the VMAs?”  In which she replied “Yes”. I was too geeked to say the least. I was just kidding.  I didn’t think she would actually have tickets. Boy was I wrong.

So Sunday night I made my way to the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.  The crowd was crazy.  Folks were asking to buy tickets everywhere I walked.  The police were straight tripping.  They wouldn’t let you on the Barclays’ grounds without a ticket.  But my friend had my ticket and they wouldn’t let me cross the street without one. Finally with a little convincing, I was able to make my way over to the center to meet up with my friend.

The fashions ranged from hip and trendy to evening wear. Award shows are funny. You never know what you are going to get.  I decided to wear a tribal print skater dressed I picked up from Forever21 a while back. I wanted something different from the bun and wore my hair in a wet and go style.

Kanye’s Performance

A view of the stage

So let’s talk about the actual award show. Did you guys see it? Here is my recap of the event.

  • The MTV VMAs were gentrified just like Brooklyn.
  • I felt sorry for the seat filler that had to come in and sit in Lady GaGa’s lady juices after she left her seat. Really GaGa? I don’t care to see you in a thong. Some things need to be left to the imagination.
  • Miley has a 90yr old butt. Not sure if it was a wardrobe malfunction or what. But her behind looked like two deflated balloons. She is too young for her tail to look like that.
  • Robin Thicke saved that performance.
  • ASAP Rocky looked like he didn’t sign up for Jason Collin’s gay rights testimony.
  • JT gave us a concert for 20 minutes. Too bad he only let the rest of his Nsync homeboys shine for 2 seconds.  Although I never voted for him to be the President of Pop. (Who came up with that title? It’s whack.)
  • Jennifer Hudson wore a crop top and that let me know I need to get my life and work on my fitness.
  • I have been under a rock because I had no clue who Macklemore was.
  • Bruno is shorter than I originally thought.

Did you guys enjoy it?
