Last weekend I attended the Be Better Benefit party. The celebration was a fundraiser to generate funds (donating 100% of proceeds) and raise awareness for Children of Promise New York.
The process of finding something to wear to this event was daunting. I wasn’t sure if it was dressy, clubby or casual. But that wasn’t the daunting part. It was finding something in my closet to wear that actually fit. It’s not like I didn’t have anything to wear. I had some really nice appropriate dresses but they were too snug. (Have I really gained that much weight?) Arggghhh!! I felt so defeated. I almost didn’t want to go. But I had to go since I was meeting my friends there.
I finally settled on my Jason Wu for Target dress that was hanging in my closet with the tags. I purposely skipped over this dress because I thought it was too dressy for the event. But it ended up being the only garment I felt truly comfortable in. It’s better to be over dressed than underdressed. Right?
Well the event had a mix of attire. I saw clubby dresses, denim, more formal pieces and just about everything. So I fit right in. Yahoo! It was touch and go for a moment. But in the end I’m glad I went. It’s always fun to get dressed up and go out every once in a while.
