I know this post is a little late but I hope everyone had a great holiday. I really enjoyed my Christmas and New Year’s Eve. I am happy anytime I get to spend time with my family. My new year was very low key. I kicked it with my parents this year. I haven’t spent a NYE home in Michigan since I moved to NYC eleven years ago. Although none of us saw the ball drop or participated in the countdown because we were asleep. I woke up at 12:05 AM. Dang! I hope this isn’t a representation of what the rest of the year will be like.
Christmas was another story. I stayed up late wrapping presents and doing my part in making sure Santa’s snacks were gone by the morning.
The girls had a wonderful Christmas. Although they received a lot of toys from Santa, they only wanted to play on my iPad and iPhone. Go figure!
But there was one present that was hit this year. And it was this Princess Microphone and Amplifier. The girls loved it. My little ladies were singing up a storm. I captured everything on video.
Since my munchkins are my muses, I decided to capture some holiday portraits. I love photography and wanted to sharpen my skills a bit. I was trying to create my own version of an Olan Mills photo-shoot with the Christmas tree in the background.
I used the opportunity of my nieces all dressed up in their Christmas dresses. (So…about this couch. Let’s just say it’s older than me. Which explains the tacky 70s print.)
The little ladies were so excited to get the Disney Princess Castle from Santa.
I taught the girls how to sashay down a “catwalk” and they modeled their Christmas dresses for me.
I love these two. They have their own little personalities and keep me laughing. (I had already started twisting my hair for the night and didn’t realize I had a big old braid in the front when I took this picture.)
This was my holiday hair. I don’t ever do twist-outs on my hair, but lately I have been rocking them. I think I have finally mastered my technique. It’s not as defined as I would like but I think it’s because the product I used to twist. But I’m cool with it.
I hope you had a wonderful holiday as well.

@tharjyep Thanks you. I just adore them!
Aww your nieces are so cute! Girls are willing to pose while my nephews… not so much. My sister was mad I didn’t put one of Zach but he’s quite difficult to capture since he’s constantly on the move haha My oldest nephew is obsessed with this show Ninjago which are lego ninjas but the toys are for 8-14 year olds and have 900+ parts. It took 5 adults and all day to put together 2,000 legos. But they literally played with a bat and ball day hitting each other and everyone around them. Oh boys!
@KimberleeVDW I can’t imagine putting that many logos together!! Goodness. I hope you had an awesome holiday!
They are so cute!
Love your hair too.
Happy New Year!
