Last month I had the pleasure of going to Hollywood in Detroit. The event was part of the Detroit Passport to the Arts (DP2A) program at the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA). The Detroit Passport to the Arts was designed to introduce people under 45 to the Detroit art scene.
Although I’ve always been into the arts growing up, many of us would rather go to the club than spend an evening at a museum. Don’t get me wrong. I like to drop it like it’s hot, get low and schmoney too. But I also like to expand my mind culturally. Hence, why I love to travel.
The DP2A at the DIA is an affordable conduit to learning about the arts and expanding ourselves culturally while having fun doing so with like minded folks.
The DP2A gives access to a variety of performances, including opera, dance, theater, music, film and other networking events. Find out more how the passport work and the benefits here.

The Hollywood in Detroit event was a lot of fun. It was at the Detroit Film Theater at the DIA where we watched this year’s Oscar nominated short films. The films were so cute. The first half of the program featured animated films and the second half featured regular films. All of them were really good. Check them out here.
Afterward, there was a free shuttle to the after-party at the Detroit Historical Museum with complimentary food, drinks and live music provided by DJ SuperDre.
There are two events left as part of the DP2A series. If you are in the D, be sure to check it out. You will not be disappointed.
