Glamour Women of the Year 2011

Last night I attended Glamour Magazines Women of the Year 2011 awards show at Carnegie Hall. I was invited by my dear friend T. Nicole of Pint Sized Influence. (Check out her blog. She’s very witty and funny!) Just like Black Girls Rock, I was once again in a room surrounded by incredible women.

The award show was in its 21st year. The honorees included Jennifer Lopez, Tory Burch, Arianna Huffington, Chelsea Handler, Lea Michelle, Gabrielle Giffords, Gloria Steinem and many more. The room was filled with celebs and famous folks.

I was completely star struck to be sitting right across the aisle form Dr. Condoleezza Rice and the Bush ladies. Which I was very surprised to be since we don’t share the same political views. But I really was. They are all accomplished women in their own right. How could I not be??

I decided to bring out an oldie but goodie from my closet and wore my Rodarte for Target dress. I haven’t worn it since New Year’s Eve 2009, so it was good to get in another wear. Cameras were not allowed so I had to use my iPhone to take pictures and they aren’t that great.

There were so many incredible inspirational quotes last night from past and present honorees. Here are a few…

Now let’s talk fashion. These were my favorite from last night.

Jennifer Lopez’s Versace dress was hot and the high slit made it hotter.

I adored Jessica Alba’s menswear inspired dress and the sequins kept it feminine

Ok. Lea Michelle’s dress doesn’t look nearly as fabulous as it did in person and on screen. Just trust me. The dress was amazing.

I really enjoyed myself that evening. I always need to see moments like that to continue to be inspired and pursue my dreams. I have so many dreams that I have to stay focused. Seeing how Jennifer Lopez and Lea Michelle are triple threats in their crafts shows me how it’s possible to be great at more than one thing. I can do whatever my little heart desires.
