Today my friend, Dante,  and I armed with our cameras explored the city and took pictures. I also experimented for the 1st time wearing a turban. I had bought this beautiful printed scarf from a vendor on 125th in Harlem.  I knew when I bought it that I would be using it for my hair, but I just wasn’t sure how I was going to apply it.  So this morning I watched two videos on YouTube and from there I was able to concoct my own way of styling a turban.  Although I think turbans look great on others, I was under the impression that I would look like Ali Baba or Aunt Jemima.  What do you think?

This is my wonderful friend and photographer, Dante, who took the amazing shots of me in the city. I really don’t know how the bloggers do it when they don’t have a boo thang to shoot pictures of them. This is why you rarely see style shots of myself on this blog. I don’t have anyone to take personal style pictures of me. But today I was lucky. Yahoo!!

In addition to the scarf I wore on my head, I wore an H&M Trench, Old Navy Chambray Top, Gap Jeans and Top Shop Boots.

Below are the two videos I watched that were very helpful in teaching me how to tie my scarf. I took a little bit away from each to figure out what worked for the scarf size and my hair thickness.

Do you like the turban / scarf look in natural hair? Have you tried it before?
