I have been so busy that I haven’t had a chance to write about my trip to LA. It has taken me literally 2 weeks to put this post up! Every year I try to make a pilgrimage out West to visit friends and family. I wrote about my last West Coast trip here and here. This time it was short trip. I only spent 2 days in Los Angeles But to be honest…that’s all I needed. You know I’m not one to wear out my welcome also. *wink* I stayed with one of my childhood friends in Hollywood Hills.
Our 1st stop of the day was brunch at Toast Bakery Cafe. I love this place. They have great food and you often times see celebrity sightings.
I have been to LA several times in my life and seen the majority of the touristy attractions. But I have never been to Venice Beach. So my friend granted my request and off we went.
Last time I visited Los Angeles we hit up the beach in Santa Monica. It was a very nice beach but it has nothing on Venice Beach. Venice is where all of the action lives. There isn’t a dull moment. It was my kind of beach. Not pretentious and snooty.
There were folks skateboard, roller skating, hoola hooping and everything. These girls on the strip were hoola hooping. I used to be able to hoola hoop back in my younger years. The girls hoola hoopin’ were cool and let me try it but I couldn’t get it right. I thought the junk in my trunk would be able to keep the hoop on my hips but it didn’t work. I essentially had to give up my black card that day.
Ha! I saw this mannequin in the doorway of a store and it made me laugh out loud. “We’ve got your future size.”
We debated about going to see the Venice Beach Freakshow but when we found out it was only $5, we said why not. And I’m so glad we did. It was a lot of fun.
We saw it all at the Freak Show. A 2 headed turtle, the wolf man, the man with over 200 piercings, a 5 legged dog, lady who eats fire and watched a man put a fork down his nose.
Of course we had to hit up Roscoes House of Chicken ‘n Waffles.
I got the Obama special and it was delicious. I wasn’t sure how I would like waffles with chicken wings so I ordered french fries just in case. You can see them in the back. But I didn’t even need them. I really like the sweetness of the waffles with the saltiness of the chicken. It was delicious.
Per usual, I had a great time in LA. Stay tuned for my Vegas trip shortly.

I don’t even know that the man sleeps all on those piercings on his face. I would be so afraid of something getting caught in the pillow case or sheets. Glad you had fun. You definitely have me wanting to plan a trip out to the west coast now.
@YUMMommy: He said he did it to support his family. Can you imagine kissing someone with all that going on in their mouth? Ewwww!! LOL
