It’s been a couple of days since I last posted on le blog. But I have a good reason. I was in Michigan hanging out with my nieces. And they know how to keep me busy. Oh boy! They have so much energy. I seriously had to ask my mother if I was that energetic when I was their age. She said “no, but you didn’t have a sister either”. Whoa!
Last year I volunteered for the World Maker Faire in NYC. I really didn’t know what it was until I got there. I actually thought it was a crafting fair for adults. But it turned out to be a big science fair for kids. I knew my little ladies would have an excellent time there so I made sure to come back to Michigan this year to take them. The Maker Faire is only in New York City, San Francisco and Detroit. Lucky us!
We had a little photo-shoot before we left for the fair. That’s three generations right there au natural.
There were many things to do at the fair. It was located in the parking lot of the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn. It was very hot that day but the organizers of the fair had tents galore. So many of the activities were held in the shade. Great thinking.
The oldest munchkin made some sort of contraption. I believe she called it a ticket holder. There were raffle tickets under the cardboard cone. The volunteer that helped her with this project was so patient. I think it took my little lady 45 minutes to put this project together. So kudos to the lovely volunteer.
The girls also made their own bouncy balls by putting sand into a mold, holding the mold under water and letting it dry. The bouncy balls came out great. They really bounced.
The little ladies wanted to ride this huge circle bike. Every time it rode by them they asked to go on it. I was reluctant because of their small size. So I asked if they were too small to ride. Nope. I was able to put the smallest munchkin in the center and the oldest munchkin sat in a seat where the pedals didn’t work.
I’m not going to lie. Even though the bike was a 6 seater, it was a work out. Good lord! Especially in that hot sun. I wasn’t prepared for a work out that day. But lord knows I needed it.
We had a lovely time at the World Maker Faire. Stay tuned for more recaps of my trip home to Michigan.

Love the “natural generation” pic! Such as inspiration for your nieces to see that their hair is celebrated. Oh yeah, and you all look like you had a ball!!
