The other day I decided to treat myself.  I didn’t do anything special to warrant such a treat, but I figure splurging on yourself every now and then is a good thing.  If you don’t do it, who else will?  I just wanted to spend a little money on myself.  I wasn’t depressed, so it wasn’t any type of retail therapy.  I will say it was therapeutic to just shop and not worry about how much everything cost. Although I was scared to look at my bank account balance when it was all said and done. Yikes!

I started the day off going to the Tracy Reese sample sale.  I got to the sale at around 10 am and it was full of people.  I haven’t been to a sample sale in years.  I was always working during the hours of a sample sale so I could never take advantage.  Because I travelled with my last job, I was never in the city.  It’s not like I could go to a sample sale during a lunch break. Since I have a more flexible lifestyle now, I will be taking advantage of more sample sales.

The Tracy Reese sample sale really wasn’t a sale to me.  The prices were actually pretty steep.  Now she did have a couple of $35 racks that included garments sized 0 to 4. Since I can’t do anything with a size 4 but look at it, I had to move on over to the more expensive racks.

My Tracy Reese Dress Purchase

I have never owned anything from Tracy Reese before, but I knew I wanted to buy something.  Tracey is from Michigan like myself and I’m all about supporting Michiganders.  I decided to look at the dresses. I had to keep my choices to her Plenty line because those dresses were $125 verses any of her other lines which were priced at $180. So I browsed the racks and ended up trying on a couple of dresses. I had to try on the dresses in the middle of the sample room.  I’m a novice to sample sale shopping and didn’t come dressed appropriately.  Apparently you should just wear leggings and a tank.  This way you can slip the clothes over your outfit and don’t have to disrobe.  I will keep that in mind for my next sample sale.

I ended up deciding on a cute floral printed dress and the shoes above.  The shoes only set me back $25 and they are real leather.  I can’t wait to wear them.

Do you like sample sales? Do you find the prices to be cheap or steep?
