I have friends that shop second hand all the time. And I always admire the items they find. Myself, on the other hand, have tried vintage shopping many times and have always walked away frustrated and empty handed. It is too overwhelming for me. When I shop, I want the garment to jump out at me and scream "Buy me!!". I just don’t have the patience to sift through racks after racks. And as a result, I completely avoid second hand stores.
While hanging out the other day in Royal Oak, I decided to stop into Lost and Found Vintage and give vintage shopping another chance. Lost and Found Vintage is Michigan’s premier vintage clothing store. It’s also the go-to vintage spot for traveling celebrities, bands, film crews and fashion designers seeking inspiration.
I browsed through some of the racks and found a really cute jumper but I was too lazy to try it on. I think I went through 2 racks and was already tired of browsing. I put the jumper back and started walking to the front door when Amanda, the sales person, asked if I wanted to try on anything. Since she asked, I told her "yes" and picked the jumpsuit back up to try on. I told her my frustrations with vintage shopping and she asked me what type of garments I wanted. I told her that I was looking for 60’s style dresses that were full and flirty. While in the dressing room, she ended up pulling dresses that perfectly fit my description. I just started trying them all on. Thanks to Amanda, I ended up with 2 cute dresses and I also bought a crinoline to wear underneath to give the dresses more fullness. Below is one of the dresses I ended up taking home.
If it wasn’t for her, I would have walked out of that store empty handed. She was excellent. One of the dresses I purchased had a broken zipper, but it was so cute and only $6. I bought it anyway. That’s an easy fix. I’m so excited to wear my new dresses.
Do you ever vintage shop?

Cuteness!!! When you wear them, I’ll come to Harlem to let you be on the other side of the camera!
@Kali – Please do!! It’s so frustrating. Although I do have a remote and a tripod. I just feel weird using it outside of my home!!
