I have been holding on to decorative paper that I purchased at Kate’s Paperie over a year ago. I have been meaning to put it in a frame and hang it. Now that I’m finally settled in my new place I will finally tackle this project.

Framing art is a great idea for those that are on a budget like myself. It’s an inexpensive way to add color to your home. All you need is wrapping or art paper and a frame.

1. Pick your paper. Look for a common color theme. Most important, look for variations in scale.

2. Open each frame and remove backing. Place backing on the back of one sheet of paper and trace around it. Cut out the frame-size sheet.

3. Hang.

Tip: Hanging is the hardest part. Measure carefully, both to center your pieces on the wall and to maintain the right spacing. Using a level helps (try a laser level — it will mark a line on the wall for each row).

Alternatives: Use fabric, maps, or printed letters in enormous sizes.

Old scarves and unusual fabrics look great if you use a staple gun to attach them to wooden craft store frames made for canvas.
