Yesterday I got an impromptu invite from my friend, Nas, to come out and see an R&B Showcase at B.B. King Blues Bar & Grill. I was little hesitant because I don’t normally go out on Sunday nights. That’s like a school night for me. I got the invite earlier in the day so I had time to get my mind right and muster up some energy to go. Since I did absolutely nothing all day but lounge around my place, I figured I should get out of the house.
One of the special invited guests was Sisqo from Dru Hill. I used to love Dru Hill back in the day. Every song they put out was a jam. My favorites were Beauty (Remix) and Sleeping In My Bed. They were putting out hit after hit during the 90s.
Sisquo was invited as a host and not a guest but he did send one song for the audience. He also discussed that Dru Hill was still a group ant they haven’t broken up. They actually have an album out. Sisqo also talked about how he is working on a solo project too. He also mentioned that he had a reality TV show coming in the fall to the WE Network.
We got to go back stage after the show to meet Sisqo and take pictures. (It’s always good to have friends in high places.)
Meeting Sisqo was cool. Can I just say he looks as though time stood still. I mean in terms of his ensemble. I felt transported back to the late 1990s standing next to him. He is still rocking the dragon microphone and bedazzled necklace. The most important thing that didn’t change is Sisqo’s voice. He still has it and sounded great. A true singer. No million dollar machines behind him making him sound good. I respect his talent.
