Curlformers with Natural Hair

I finally tried out my Curlformers over the weekend after owning them for over three months.  I have been wearing my hair straight for two weeks and wasn’t quite ready to go back to the au natural look just yet.  So I broke out the Curlformers instead.  I figured it would be a happy medium.

I started off with the Long & Wide Curlfomers (Pink & Yellow) but had to start using the rest of the Curlformers that I won (Blue & Green) at a natural hair event.  I’m thankful I had them because I would have been S.O.L. without them.

Before I attempted to use the Curlformers, I had watched several YouTube videos on the application.  But I found the ones from Natural Chica and Naptural85 the most helpful.

Curlformers on Natural Hair

Here is the final result of my 1st attempt at Curlformers.  I was in a hurry the day I attempted my Curlformers and sat under my Dominican Hair dryer to speed up the process.  It took about 30 minutes to dry.  But because of where my dryer is positioned in my bedroom (behind my head board) and the way I was sitting, two sections of Curlformers didn’t dry.  Two little funky rollers didn’t dry and messed up my whole look because they were in a prominent place in my head.  Ugghhh!

Can you see where it didn’t curl??

Frohawk with Curlformers on Natural Hair

No worries! As a result, I had to throw it back in a frowhawk.  I did like the end results from the Curlformers.  I just need to figure out a good setting lotion or gel that will work with keeping my ends straight.  You know how when you use wrapping papers on your ends when getting a roller set?  Something like that.  If you have any suggestions, let a sistah know!
