Last Sunday I had brunch in Harlem with a couple of my natural hair friends at 5 & Diamond. I met up with Kali of Hip Hop Hard Body, Elizabeth and Chanel of Boutique de Bandeaux. The food was great and not expensive. I had french toast and juice for all under $12. They offer a pre-fixed brunch menu too that includes unlimited drinks. The place is very quaint. If you are ever in the Harlem area, I suggest you come and check it out.

I love an exposed brick so we decided to do a photo session in front of it. Of course I only had my point and shoot camera, not my DSLR. Therefore the pictures are not that great.
After brunch, Elizabeth invited me to see the play Black Angels Over Tuskegee. Can you believe I had the nerve to debate whether or not I wanted to join her? That is until I saw that Lamman Rucker was starring in it. I love that man. There is nothing like a tall solid man. He has girth. Hugging him is like the bliss you feel when you hold a baby. This I know because I met him last year in New Orleans. I nearly died and went to heaven upon meeting.
Ok…back to the play. Black Angels Over Tuskegee was written and directed by Layon Gray who also acts in the play. The play is based on the Tuskegee Airmen and the struggles they encountered to become the first African-American fighter pilots in the U.S. Army Air Forces. I laughed, I cried and I laughed again. Black Angels Over Tuskegee was excellent.
This is Thom Scott II and myself. He played Abraham in the play. (Don’t we look cute together?)
Lamman Rucker, myself and Thomas Scott II. I know that smile Lamman has gets him out of a lot of trouble.
“Black Angels Over Tuskegee” is playing at St. Luke’s Theater, 308 West 46th Street, (212) 239-6200. It’s running until December.
