It’s been a full week since the "Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty" exhibit closed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.  I was one of the 661, 509 visitors that had the pleasure of seeing the exhibition.  The lines were crazy long.  The wait was about 5 hours long.  And of course I waited until the last minute to go.  I ended up seeing it last Tuesday in the afternoon.

My friend, Jennifer, got in line at 8:30am and the line was already long and wrapped around outside of the museum.  Since she was already in line, I decided to meet up with her in line.  But by the time I got dressed and ready she texted me that she was already in the museum and didn’t think I would be able to cut in line.  Once she told me that, I debated on not going.  But I was now dressed with no where to go.  I decided to try my luck and I caught a cab to the museum.

By the time I got there, the museum had closed off the line to the McQueen exhibit.  I decided to continue on with my plan. I bypassed the line outside and walked in.  Since I was by myself, I don’t think anyone noticed me.  I paid the donation and quietly asked the security guard where the exhibit was located.  He told me that they weren’t letting anymore people in line, but still told me what floor it was on after I batted my eyelashes a little bit.

I headed upstairs to the exhibit and there was a huge line.  I was recently at the museum last month for the Museum Mile and I remembered that there was a line to see McQueen back then.  But if you weren’t trying to go to the exhibit, you could bypass the line and go see the other collections at the museum.  So I bypassed the line pretending that I wasn’t there for McQueen and walked right up to the entrance of the exhibit.  By that time my friend, Jennifer, was already in the exhibit.  I had just missed her by a few seconds.

The security guards were only letting a certain number of people in at a time.  But they were allowing those with membership to the museum to skip the line and walk right in.  The members had a very small separate line.  I got in that line and waited.  When the guards motioned for the next group of members to walk in, I politely asked this couple if it was OK for me to walk in with them.  They didn’t answer, but I walked in anyway right behind them. And I met up with my Jennifer.

I think the only reason I was able to bypass the lines was because I was by myself. I always say "Travel light, Travel far!".  Had I been with a herd of girls, we would have been waiting in a 5 hour line!

Savage Beauty was amazing!! I’m so glad I got to see it. You could really tell that McQueen was going through some things in his last collection.  It was very dark and gloomy.  The entire exhibit took about an hour to walk through.  I would have been upset if I waited in that long line and it only took me 15 minutes to see.  It was very crowded, so it was difficult to see and read everything.  But I managed. I think the McQueen exhibit should travel so that others outside of NYC can enjoy his works as well.

Unfortunately, the museum didn’t allow pictures to be taken.  Of course, I secretly took some anyway.  But out of respect, I won’t post them.

But I did take some pictures outside of the museum.

Aqua Dress | Target Sandals | Vintage Handbag

I wore my Aqua dress I purchased from Bloomingdale’s using the $50 off $100 coupon code I posted a while back. I was able to get 3 dresses for under $75 using that coupon.  I love a great bargain!

Although, I don’t have pictures of the exhibit to share, I do have a video..

Did anyone see the Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty exhibit?? If so, what did you think?
