You know you are getting old when all you want for your birthday is a bread machine.  Yep.  That is what I requested from my mom a month ago for my birthday.  It’s one of those things that I have wanted for a while but probably would have never bought on my own.  Of course my mom didn’t order it in time for it to arrive by my birthday so I actually just received it last week.  No biggie.  Better late than never, right?

Here are a few pics from my birthday ….

My birthday gift: West Bend Breadmaker

My friend Deniece got me this lovely Wesco Grandy Bread Box from West Elm as a gift.

Voila! My 1st batch of bread came out beautiful and tasted delicious.

Making bread in the machine was very easy.  I just made regular white bread.  Nothing fancy.  I wanted to get comfortable with the machine first.  I even downloaded a bread making book from the New York Public Library onto my iPad Kindle App so I could research some recipes and how to make bread.  I will say making bread isn’t easy.  You have to be right on point with your measurements.  A 1/2 teaspoon can be the difference between whether or not your bread rises.

Here is the recipe I used…

Bread Machine Bread

Set machine to 2lbs.

Ingredients:
1 cup warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
2 tablespoons white sugar
1 (.25 ounce) package bread machine yeast (I used Fleishmann’s  RapidRise Yeast)
1/4 cup vegetable oil
3 cups bread flour
1 & 1/2 teaspoon salt

Directions:

Place the water, sugar and yeast in the pan of the bread machine. Let the yeast dissolve and foam for 10 minutes. Add the oil, flour and salt to the yeast. Select Basic or White Bread setting, and press Start.

And there you have it! It was so simple.  The bread machine even has a timer that you can set overnight and wake up to warm bread in the morning.  I’m thinking cinnamon bread would be perfect in the morning.
